Is Gabo Island Resort Lodge real?
No. GIRL is a fictional resort. Gabo Island, its lighthouse and the photographs are real. The lodge, its rooms, staff and history are invented. The booking system is real software.
Can I actually stay on Gabo Island?
Yes, but not through this website. Parks Victoria offers accommodation in the historic assistant lighthouse keepers' residence. Check Parks Victoria for current access, closures and bookings.
What does a GIRL booking buy?
This is a fictional holiday. No accommodation, transport or other travel service is being purchased. Your payment purchases the personalised GIRL booking experience and digital souvenir package.
The real charge is 1% of the fictional holiday value plus $5, sold as "GIRL Interactive Booking Experience". For example, a $1,550 fictional holiday costs $20.50. You see the exact amount before you pay.
Will I be charged real money right now?
No. Payments run in Stripe test mode while we finish building, so no real card is charged. To try the flow, use Stripe's test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future expiry date and any CVC.
Why build a fake resort?
To show a real booking system working end to end without inventing a real business. GIRL demonstrates OZE Bookings: live availability, room categories, seasonal pricing, deposits and cancellation terms, Stripe payments and an operator portal.
What happens to the fictional deposit and cancellation terms?
They are part of the demonstration. The booking page shows a fictional deposit, balance and cancellation policy exactly as a real resort would. None of it is charged. Only the booking-experience amount is a real payment.
Is GIRL connected to Parks Victoria?
No. GIRL is not affiliated with or endorsed by Parks Victoria or any other authority.
