Fictional resort. Gabo Island is real. The resort isn't. The booking system is. No accommodation or travel is sold. How it works

Terms

Two sets of terms: the real ones for the small digital payment, and the fictional ones that belong to the story.

Real

1. What you are buying

This is a fictional holiday. No accommodation, transport or other travel service is being purchased. Your payment purchases the personalised GIRL booking experience and digital souvenir package.

Gabo Island Resort Lodge is fictional. No real accommodation or transport is provided. Payments purchase a digital interactive experience and associated digital products. Gabo Island itself, its lighthouse and the photography presented as documentary imagery are real.

  • Product: GIRL Interactive Booking Experience, a digital interactive experience.
  • Price: 1% of the fictional holiday value plus $5.00 (AUD), shown before payment.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. GIRL never sees or stores your card details.
  • Test mode: payments currently run in Stripe test mode, so no real money is taken. These terms will be reviewed, including refund terms for real payments, before live payments are ever switched on.
Fiction

2. Fictional resort terms

These terms are part of the demonstration. They show how a real resort would present deposits, balances and cancellations. No part of them is charged, owed or enforceable, because there is no stay.

  • Check-in from 2:00 PM, check-out by 10:00 AM. Late checkout may be subject to weather.
  • Stay dates are half-open: your check-out day is free for the next arriving guest.
  • The fictional deposit, balance and cancellation schedule shown on the booking page come from the live policy settings in the booking engine.
